Leatherback sea turtle

Leatherback sea turtles are also known as leathery turtles and lute turtles. Lute turtles  occur in tropical and temperate waters. They are the largest living turtle species world-wide. They are called leatherback turtles because they have leather-like skin. They  bite humans sometimes when they feel danger. They can also occasionally break human bones. It can grow to seven feet long and weigh up to 2,000 pounds. They are good swimmers. They can dive to a depth of up to 4,200 feet, which is deeper than other turtle species. It can stay under water for up to 85 minutes. The female one digs a large pit on a beach to lay eggs. deposited about 80 eggs. These species have black leathery skin and have a pinkish white underside. They have sharp jaws. Their front flippers are longer than others, and they have paddle-shaped back flippers.
