Hawksbill sea turtles are named after their narrow, pointed beaks. They are mainly found in coastal waters. These turtles spend more time in coral reefs, rocky areas, and shallow lagoons. They can grow up to 45 inches (114 cm) long and weigh up to 110-150 pounds (50-60 kg). They have a unique shell pattern that is a combination of shades of amber, orange, red, yellow, black, and brown. The exact pattern on its shell is unique to each individual, much like a fingerprint is unique to a person. Hawksbill turtles have a hard, heart-shaped shell that protects them from many predators, but they cannot defend themselves against sharks, octopuses, large fish, crocodiles, or humans. Humans hunt them for their shell and meat, but their meat is potentially poisonous to humans. They can travel as fast as 24 kph. These species are one of the most aggressive sea turtles, but they are prettiest. These medium-sized sea turtles have an oval-shaped body and very powerful, toothless jaws. They are omnivorous. They can eat 1200 pounds per day. They mostly feed on crabs, shrimp, jellyfish, sponges, and algae.
When the nesting procedure begins, they leave the sea to choose areas to lay eggs. They make a sand pit. After that, they fill it normally with 130-150 eggs and cover it with sand. The eggs will hatch in about 60 days. Their hatchlings are only 2-3 inches long. They are brown in color.
