This species is found in Eastern central Atlantic oceanic seabed areas. The West African seahorse has a long cylindrical body. They can grow maximum length about 19cm. They are not proficient swimmers, they only swim short distance. West African seahorse is listed as vulnerable. The male one carries the eggs in it's brood pouch.
