The weedy sea dragon, also known as the common seahorse. They are related to the seahorse. Weedy seahorses have a leaf-like appearance. These species are endemic to the Australian coastal waters at about 50m. Male sea dragons have narrow bodies. Have a long pipe with a small mouth. They mainly feed on crustaceans. They have pectoral fins and dorsal fins. The female one deposits around 120 eggs into the male's brood pouch. They can grow to a maximum length of about 45 cm. Their life span is about 5 to 10 years. They have reddish brown bodies with yellow spots. Slow swimmers.
